FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Threnic?

Threnic is a GPU-accelerated lyric video engine that lets you create stunning, professional-grade music visualizations directly in your web browser. You can load audio files, sync lyrics with precision, apply real-time visual effects, and export high-quality videos up to 4K resolution — all without installing any software.

Is my music or lyrics uploaded to your servers?

No. Threnic is designed with a 'Local-First' architecture. All your creative assets — audio files, lyrics, and background images — stay on your device. The rendering process happens entirely in your browser using your computer's GPU. Nothing is uploaded, transmitted, or stored on external servers.

What browsers are supported?

Threnic requires a Chromium-based browser (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, or Opera) version 94 or newer. This is because Threnic relies on the WebCodecs API for hardware-accelerated video export, which is only available in Chromium browsers. Firefox and Safari are not currently supported. For best performance, use the latest stable version of Google Chrome on a desktop computer.

Do I need a powerful computer to use Threnic?

Threnic requires a computer with a dedicated or integrated GPU that supports WebGL 2.0. Most modern computers (purchased after 2018) meet this requirement. For comfortable editing at 1080p with multiple effects, we recommend a GPU with at least 4GB of VRAM. For 4K export, 6-8GB of VRAM is recommended. Integrated GPUs (Intel UHD, AMD Radeon Vega) work but may experience lower frame rates with complex effect stacks.

Do I have to pay to use Threnic?

The core functionality of Threnic is currently available for free, including audio import, lyric timing, all visual effects, and video export up to 4K resolution. The project is supported by advertising to help cover operational costs. There are no paywalls, no watermarks on exported videos, and no artificial limitations on export quality.

Can I use the exported videos for commercial purposes?

Yes, absolutely. You retain 100% ownership of any videos you create with Threnic. As long as you own or have the rights to the audio, lyrics, and any imagery you use in your project, you are free to distribute the exported video commercially on any platform — YouTube, Spotify Canvas, social media, paid distribution, or anywhere else.

What audio formats are supported?

Threnic supports MP3 and WAV audio formats. For best results, use MP3 files encoded at 320kbps constant bitrate (CBR) or WAV files at 44.1kHz sample rate. Variable bitrate (VBR) audio files may occasionally cause timing sync issues during export.

Can I import pre-synced lyrics?

Yes. Threnic supports LRC file import, which is the standard format for synced lyrics used by music players and karaoke systems. When you import an LRC file, Threnic automatically places each lyric line at the correct timestamp on the timeline. You can also paste plain text lyrics and manually time them using the stamp hotkey system.

What visual effects are available?

Threnic includes a suite of GPU-accelerated post-processing effects: Bloom (soft glow), Distortion (pixel displacement with noise patterns), Chromatic Aberration (RGB color splitting), Film Grain (analog texture), and VHS effects. Each effect is fully customizable with intensity, speed, and frequency parameters, and most support audio reactivity — meaning they pulse and shift in sync with your music.

What is audio reactivity?

Audio reactivity is Threnic's signature feature. It connects your audio's frequency data (bass, mid, high) directly to visual effect parameters. For example, you can make bloom intensity pulse with the bass drum, or chromatic aberration flicker with hi-hat hits. This creates videos that visually 'breathe' with the music rather than just displaying static text over a background.

What export resolutions are available?

Threnic supports export at 720p (1280×720), 1080p (1920×1080), 1440p/2K (2560×1440), and 2160p/4K (3840×2160). Frame rate options include 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps. Bitrate is configurable from 4 Mbps to 80 Mbps depending on resolution. All exports produce MP4 files with H.264 video and the original audio track.

How long does exporting take?

Export time depends on your GPU, the export resolution, and effect complexity. As a rough guide: a 3-minute video at 1080p/30fps takes 2-5 minutes on a mid-range GPU (like an NVIDIA RTX 3060). At 4K, expect 8-15 minutes on the same hardware. Integrated GPUs will take 2-3× longer. Closing other browser tabs and applications during export helps significantly.

Does Threnic support mobile devices?

No. Threnic requires intensive real-time GPU rendering and significant memory, which makes it impractical on mobile devices. It is designed and supported only on desktop browsers running on computers with dedicated or capable integrated GPUs. Tablets are not officially supported either, though some high-end tablets with desktop-class browsers may work in a limited capacity.

Can I save my project and continue later?

Yes. Threnic saves project state including audio references, lyric timing, visual settings, and effect configurations. Projects are stored locally in your browser. You can also export project files (.thren format) for backup or transfer between computers.

Is there a word limit for lyrics?

There is no hard limit on the number of lyric lines or words. However, extremely long songs (over 10 minutes) with dense lyrics may consume more memory. For best performance, keep individual lyric lines under 80 characters. If a line is too long to display at your chosen font size, consider splitting it into two shorter lines.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

You can report bugs or suggest features through our Discord community (linked in the footer) or by emailing nxntechnologiesllc@gmail.com. We actively monitor both channels and prioritize issues based on community impact.
